hello everybody,
I am still after informations concerning  the gt6 brakes.
I have source all the part needed for the front: vertical links, stub axles...calipers
This very  friendly TRIUMPH fan who sold me these parts has different TRIUMPH drums in his barn: spitfire, TR, dolomite...
For the moment, we have to find the correct GT6 drums, I need to know the dimensions of these drums...

What are the dimensions of the brake drums ?
I know they are 8" : but is it inside or outside diameter? How large are they? what are the numbers on the castings? ...

If someone has some informations: please, let me know... Many thanks by advance

This will probably make things worse than before:

My left drum:
Has a cast message that looks like:
5.050 INS MAXIMUM DRUM DIA WITH NOT LESS THAN .06 LINING THICKNESS
other markings on the drum are no longer legible enough to be sure of the numbers

My right drum:
Has a cast message that looks like:
8.050 INS MAXIMUM DRUM DIA WITH NOT LESS THAN .06 LINING THICKNESS
(so maybe the 5.050 on the left one is just a deterioration of 8.050)
other markings, as best I can make out, & the numbers may be mistaken due to wear & legibility:
(stamped) 1104617
(cast) STANPART
(cast) F24
(stamped) B2

The Mk2/+ parts catalog shows the part number for the rear brake drum is
203077

The GT6 Mk3 parts manual has two different part numbers for the rear drums:
203077 (up to car # KE/KF 20,000)
215754 (from KE/KF 20,000)

so the rotoflex cars used the 1st & the swing spring cars used the 2nd.  I think at least one of the differences is the size of the hole in the center that the hub fits through (one is just fractionally smaller than the other).

Mine should be 203077, so what is marked on 215754 is not known to me.

I don't have any drums off to measure, & I don't know the part number for the Mk1 GT6.

Which model GT6 are we talking about? There was a different rear brake arrangement on the late Mk3 cars with the self adjusting setup. This included different drums, both early and late types have 8" inside diameter,
Cheers,
Bill.

Rotoflex, Piero, Rarebits: Many Thanks to all of you for your help.
I look after the early MI, MKII drums... I know the late MKIII have special rear brakes: I don't look after the late Mk3 system with the self adjusting setup.
I look after GT6 drums that work as the spitfire drums: with a brake adjuster screw (37h6134).I have found only one part reference: "203077" and it is said 1.25" Rear Brake Shoes - Manually Adjusted.
Thanks Piero for your proposition: you can contact me: but I am not in a hurry too. I am quite afraid concerning the shipping cost ?
The nice TRIUMPH fan, I met, might have a pair of MKII drums: but he need to check the dimensions...So, except the late MKIII: May you let me know if all the GT6 drums are the same?
What are the cast messages on them?
By the way: I look after informations, advices concerning the Girling powerstop 5156: it seems to be a period brakebooster fitted by the factory as an option
How could it be rebuilt ? Who are the specialist about these units?
Anyone has knowledge about these type of servo?
Once again: Many thanks by advance.

Hi Popeye:

My GT6 Mk3 parts manual shows 215754 as the part number for the GT6 drums on the GT6 Mk3 after they changed from rotoflex to the swing-spring rear suspension at car #KE/KF 20,000.

Maybe they later used the same drums from the late GT6 on the TR7 also?
