wires hub conversion headache!

Hi me loverlies,

That very helpful Matt from off of this forum has been helping me convert MG hubs into GT6 Mk1 hubs for wires.

I tried them yesterday and the fronts are 1/2 cm too proud....he's gone off  Spit disks for the machining...are they the same?

He's asking "..measure the shoulder depth on your disk rotor and diameter of the outside of the shoulder across that would help, they may be deeper on yourdisk rotor ....."

It may just be a case of maching out another 1/2 cm but I thought I'd ask yer opinions first!

Hiya,
Just reading your thread(s) about the MG hubs.
I have a Gentry, which is all Herald running gear, so am interested in improving braking, I also use MG wheels (not wires) on the Triumph hubs. This was done by using Ally spacers with holes to match Triumph pcd and studs to match MG pcd.
But your mod using the MG hubs and Im guessing the brakes as well would be of great interest to me. any chance of some more info about what has been done?
Good luck with your project.
Dave

Hi there,

Its a guy called Matt Sanders who's done it all with a friend of his to machine the hubs...

The fronts have not been machined enough and do not fit so this thread is looking for an answer to a simple question:

Are Spits' and early GT6's front wheel hubs the same???

Attached is a pic of mine where the shoulder sticks out 9 mm but the machined hubs will only allow 6 mm.

Any offers?

I dont know anything about the brakes sorry but Matt will, he's VERY helpful....contact him via this forum...

Good luck!

can you not use a 5mm spacer or just to try for a fit use some washers on the studs to see if you have enough clearance.

Hi mate

...no cos the nuts wont go on enough and the wheel sticks out too far...prob sending the disk rotors to Matt to machine down if I can get the calipers off without thinking I'm messing up the brakes!
