Stuart Wilson
I've acquired a spitfire 1500 engine and also acquired a 3 rail overdrive gearbox. Which clutch should I be looking at getting for this combination? Theses will be getting fitted in the Moss
RobPearce
That's an interesting question. When I last did it, I was told there wasn't a simple solution and that boring out the holes to use my 1300 flywheel and clutch was the only answer. I'm fairly sure that's not actually true, though. There's a suitable clutch plate out there somewhere, whether it be 1500FWD, Marina, Escort Mk1 or what I don't know.
DanM
I've had a 1500 engine mounted to a 3 rail overdrive for about 20 years. As above I have the 1300 (well actually 1147 spit mk2 but it's the same) flywheel with the holes drilled to take the larger 1500 bolts, with a 1300 clutch and it works fine. Richard B
We drilled the holes out (hand or piller I can't remember) rather than needing to bore them when we did this job.The dowel and the recess on the flywheel, locate it correctly on the crank. Stuart Wilson
so use my original 1300 flywheel and a 1300 clutch, drilling out/enlarging flywheel to crank mounting holes. That doesn't sound to difficult to do. Thanks for the help and advice
