dazzer
What are the piston options for flat top 78mm to suit an early 2000? I realise there will be some machine work for the gudgeon bushes but just the types available would be a good start/prices etc.I've located some VW camper pistons which would work approx £290 + VAT for 4 although Ive heard talk of Mazda pistons? Or specialist manufacturers.CheersDazzer

DJB_Harvey
I may have a set of VW pistons ... Would have to check . Another thing to note is a special H/Gasket is needed from Payen for a overbore that size .
dazzer
Yes you have to buy 8 unfortunately so £580 + VAT. Not as cost effective as county pistons but I'm already at 60+ so it would mean standard and a new early block or engine and it wouldn't offer the extra performance. The Vdub pistons are lighter as well. I can reclaim the VAT back which is a small saving.
andy thompson
Head gaskets from Wishbone classics in US - less than half the price of Payen over here from usual suspects and better made
