mikeyb Posted February 15, 2011 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Yes water is getting past the seal - but if leakage is not massive, try running it for a bit - this has worked for me in the past. You may be lucky as I was and find that a bit of useage will polish the rust off the seal face and it will re-seal itself again. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Nick Jones Posted February 15, 2011 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Tell-tale hole is best at the bottom as this lets the water out before it has the chance to build up in the housing and flood the bearings. Although if the seal leaks badly, that is academic anyway.Might be worth running a little longer to see if the leakage stops. nicmk1est Posted February 15, 2011 Share Posted February 15, 2011 i had the same problem with my old water pump,,,it started to dribble slightly,left it on there for few more weeks,,still dribbling and noticed when running is was gettin faster,but when switched of hardly nothing except for dribble or two,i decided to buy new one for tr enterprises,fitted it and it solved the water leak,,heater got hotter,engine was cooler aswel,,in the manual the original water pump was servicable but new one are now pressed together so not servicableleaking form new water pump??dodgey pump,ask for exchange seeing as it leaking,new pump should not leak Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
