1300 mk11 crank journals

I have been talking to an engine builder ( Coventry classics recommended by Bill from Midland balancing) about getting a fast road engine built, who seem very reasonable quote £1250 + vat, but instead of using my engine which is currently fine i am thinking about for the extra cost of £100 pounds letting them source one. However (keith) seems to think that there are two types of 1300 engine one with large journals and one with small, (he seemed a little unsure) but asked which one i wanted it built from ?

So any ideas is the journal thing true and if so which do i want to go with ?

Any help on this appreciated

Laurence

Sorry, I'm trying to revise at the same time and dont really have time for a really detailed answer! I'm sure the other guys on here will provide more detail.

Basically the small journal has a nicer lighter crank and is a better base for an engine that produces good revs. The bigger journal crankshaft has a bigger heavier crank that isn't quite as good.
