Double Lip seal on spit crank

If you mean the front timing cover one I have tried all sorts, but no double lip ones.
I have found the current ones variable in their ability to seal. They are also deeper than the original sort, which shouldn't cause a problem. However I have had 100% success with old stock payen/halls seals from autojumbles and ebay. They seem to "grip" the crank a little tighter. I have heard elsewhere of people cutting and shortening the seal springs on the modern seals to similar effect, but not tried it myself.
Didn't know silicone seals were available.
