Jimmy956 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Hey everyoneBasically my spit has a 1300 Toledo engine, which i'm planning to replace with a 1500 dolomite engine, which i'm slowly reconditioning. I was also looking for some more performance and Ive just read that the heads are interchangable. Would there be any benefit in putting the 1300 head on the 1500? (higher CR?) plus didnt the toledo engine have large valves? All thoughts are appreciated!
CharlieB Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 The compression ratio would be far too high but it can be done by swapping to US low compression pistons at the same time which are available from the usual suppliers. A worthwhile mod is to fit a MkIII cam to your 1500.
Jimmy956 Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 Right ok then, not quite the quick swap I was hoping then! I was looking to change the cam actually for a fast road one but if a mkIII one is worthwhile perhaps I should look into that.
Jimmy956 Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Just so i know, what is a sensible maximum compression to use with a road car / pump fuel? Also does anyone know how to calculate CR, is it just a case of measuring the cylinder head volume and dividing that into the total capacity? (asuming the pistons are flush with the top of the block at TDC)Thanks
