Triumph Herald Convertible door fit

I have had for several years a 1970 Triumph Herald 13/60 convertible and have always had problems with the fit of the doors from flying open to not being able to open them (I had to remove the anti-burst fitting on one to do this). 

I was told a two or three years ago about a company in Scotland that makes steel strengthening pieces for the chassis. Has anyone heard of this or got any other suggestions?

Not sure but it might be Chic Doig

Chic Doig makes stronger side rails. I opted for 3mm box section instead. 

 

I also added 6mm braces in the rear outriggers and fillets into the fronts. 

 

You won't need to go to that level, but hopefully gives you other ideas. My body packing pieces are solid and there is no rubber there. My door shuts still move when jacking, that's just the nature of the car.

Hi Ferny,can you enlighten us as to where exactly and what size your extra braces and fillets were as I have also replaced front and rear cross members and one side rail and read somewhere about this but could not remember the answer! Thank you Adrian

Not really a great deal to say. The replacements felt like they were made from quality street tins so I cut them open and welded in rectangles I cut from 6mm plate I had. 

 

It was largely to make sure I could jack the car from anywhere.
