gasket sealer on carbs?

Ben Hutchings

Hi, I'm rebuilding me Strombergs soon, and have some of that Hylomar Blue non-setting gasket sealer left over from another job ages ago. Does anyone think its worth using some on the gasket between the float chamber and the main carb body? Any DOWN SIDES to using it?

Cheers...

No. 'Tis the Devils own work!"  :o
Gasket alone should be sufficient. Hylomar will make it mucky on subsequent disassembly and you always run the risk of excess floating off and obstructing the  float valve- instant overflowing carb.
