BodsMk1 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Sorry to ask this question again, im having difficulty fitting the screen surround to my mk1 gt6, the top gasket keeps retracting / sliding towards the inside of the car . Im not sure how to stop this or how far out the rubber should protrude. Its driving me nuts at the mo the frames been in and out twice now and im going to try a different seal fro a different supplier , but i wondered if there was a secret to fitting them that i dont know about , any ideas ?? cheers all ,
gt6878e Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 sorry mate, don't know any secret. Mine went in ok and protrudes about 5mm..........must've been lucky
Paudman Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Is this at the front or at the sides? At either side it should cover as far out as the door seal so water cannot get into any gap between the two.
BodsMk1 Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 Its the gasket at the top of the screen surround. what seems to be happening is that when i tighten the bigs phillips type headed bolts up the gasket wants to slide back intowards the cabin, leaving it looking wrong. GT687E didnt have any probs so im wondering if the holes were stamped wrong on the gasket? Also i cant figure out if the gasket gos on first with the spacers through it or if the spacers go in first with the rubber on tp and then squashed up as you tighten , the pictures not clear in the parts manual. Do i need to glue the gasket on in place first ?? If so glue onto frame or onto roof. This is a pain in the ar.. its holding me up totally cos i cant put the headlining in or dash until this is sorted. Thanks for your time chaps , without this forum i dont thimk the car would eve be finished.
