WIMPUS
Hi all, A few months back i've fixed my waxstat jets to normal jets (the penny way or 2 eurocent way). But at the time i've heard that i best changed the butterfly's to solid one.Now there are butterfly's in it with a valve in them (waxstat). is this right ? :)
yorkshire_spam
The valve in the butterfly is a small spring loaded thingy. It's supposed to be some sort of anti-stall thing from what I hear. If you have chance, get rid!
ferny
You can always solder it shut. Think someone on here did that once and posted photos.
Richard B
I think one of the problems is the valve can upset the air flow when the butterfly is open. Also the valve can go weak causing lean running on idle.As you say, either cut it off and solder up the hole or buy new, plain butterflys. WIMPUS
Well put them solid butterfly's in today. Has a chance to clean the whole carb then also. Needed to set up the idle so it was running only just and then gone for a little test drive .. Stopped somewhere and adjusted the idle a bit and turned down the mixture screw about 1,5 turn..I know i when i last tested it with the colortune i needed to put the mixture 1,5 turn richer and then it was running good, otherwise popping and banging ! :BSo turned the mixture down and drove further on .. still driving great and seems to go better also :PAnd for sure my mpg will be getting better to ;)Now just need to get the colortune out again and set it up good ;)
Richard B
If the spring in the butterfly gets weak, then a high depression will overload it.Then you have to richen the mix on idle, which puts everything out further up the range. Glad its better. You should see an improvement in mpg.

Will see now in the next few days ;)
WIMPUS
This evening went to some family of mine and parked the car for an hour or 2 .. Normally then she started to pop and bang when i drive off .. Now nearly didn't need choke , started up straight away & nice and drives very nicely from in the beginning :PNow see for a very cold start (after a night standing outside), but i'm now it will be just good :)
