Engine number I.D ???

So its time to get the v5 upto date as things get closer to seeing tarmac again.

First job correcting the engine number,the block has HC1483ESS stamped on it,just wondering is this a mk1 2ltr block as I think I've seen HC5000 Is the starting point for mk2 2ltr.

Not that it maters but just curious.

I think so, certainly for a time they were called 'Gold Seal' engines when replacements were needed.

There are also stories of people having issues with their cars, who had friends at the factory and over lunch time they'd roll their car into a workshop, hoik out the engines and then they'd drop a new one in straight off the production line...
