"Short inlet manifold"

Is the short inlet manifold on an early 2000 with Strombergs the same as the later short manifold with SUs from the 2000TC?

I have an early 2000 which wrongly has SUs fitted and at some point I want to fit Strombergs for originality's sake (never thought I'd hear myself say that ;D)

Thanks Richard - I have recently bought a pair of Strombergs on a manifold whcih should be for a 2000 MK2 but I am not quite sure (and the car is 15 miles away so not easy to check!).

In addition I have followed Dazzer's advice and bought a pair of 1 3/4" Strombergs from a TR4 off evilbay :X

With a combination of manifolds and machining etc I expect in due course to get this lot together.

So, originality but more so ;D

I've got photos when I modified the manifold if they are of any help. I'll dig them out and post if required. Longer generic choke cable also required, anything from your local factors will do. Darren

Hi Darren that would be great.

Either photos on here or I'll PM you my email address if you prefer

Could be fun, I think you will have to fit a hotter cam (GT6 MkII or better) and up the CR/ Otherwise it will be over carbed.

I have fitted a GT6 cam, double valve springs and it's the engine with the flat top pistons so the head is the same as the GT6 and Mk2 Vitesse too so I think I am OK as it is a 9.25CR.

With the bottom end lightened and balanced (but not too much lightening on the flywheel) I am looking forward to seeing what the end result is.

First though I think I'll bolt the SU carbs back on that came with the car and get it running well enough before looking at the 1 3/4" Strombergs ;)

Hi Raider

Various photos attached... look at the state of the engine bay even then! 'look at the muck in here'

The ram pipes in my opinion are absolutely essential to make this set up work properly. You don't need a rolling road to test it, you can feel the difference! noticeably with and without. On standard engine mounts the the edge of the pipe does just kiss the turret if you pop the clutch in anger. Fit the vibra tech mounts and that problem is solved.

Air filters I just fabricated two separate alloy cages and wrapped them in a loose foam... It filters birds but not much else.

Cheers

Dazzer
