Mj17
Hi all,My windscreen seal is leaking and I'm wondering what people would recommend to try and seal it up in the short term? The long term answer of course is a new seal but need something to tide me over. ferny
You can buy small tubes of clear sealant (Halfords etc). You jam the nozzel between the glass and rubber and run it along the length of the screen. Can be messy and doesn't always work.
thescrapman
It may be more than just the seal, sometimes the leakage is because the flange has disolved underneath the rubber.CheersColin
Andyr
Quick/easy fix is to use exterior silicone sealant from any diy shop which will do the job for quite a while - i used a clear one 9 months ago and it is still keeping the water out. Tends to be significantly cheaper than the motor factor alternatives as well.cheers..... Andy
heraldcoupe
Have you tried removing the silicone to replace the seal properly yet? Easy to apply I'll agree, but getting it back off the screen and/or paintwork once set is a hateful job,Cheers,Bill.
Greeks
Even worse is if there's been a bodge repair that means the wings don't drain. The resulting overflowing into the footwell can make it seem like the windscreen seal has gone when it's actually far worse. :-(This had happened on the Big Red Bus apparently.
