Door Glass Removal?

Guys, one of you has bound to have done this recently.

Since I've had to stop work on the bonnet while I wait for new wings, I've turned my attention to the boot lid and the  doors.

Anyhoo, I've got the handles, trim, and lock off. I've unbolted the window runners and the bolts that hold the mechanism in place.

The Question is

How do I get the door glass seperated from the mechanism so that I can remove the door glass through the top of the door and the reagulator through one of the holes in the door??? The manual is not so very helpful in this matter..

??)
There is some bloody difficult clips to remove at the bottom of the glass, these have to be pushed away from you, as you work from the inside side of the door. I have ended up ripping them apart to get them off and replace with new.
B4gger, I was afraid of that, oh well, better ring Paddocks in the morning to add these to my order....

The two clips are 'top hat' in cross section.

The base is like a washer with a channel cut out (so it's 'C' shaped with a slot if that makes sense).

The top has a 'finger' of metal that is pressed down in the middle so looks something like...

that.

Finally the window lift mechanisum has pins that go through the glass lift channel slots.  At the ends of these pins a groove is machined.

The idea is the slot in the clip slides into the groove, but the distance between groove and pin end is less than the distance between the base of the clip and the pressing in the top metal finger.  As a result, once fitted the metal finger acts like a spring, stopping the clip shaking off.

From memory you have to work blind and rely on feel, with a hand inside the door and the glass about half up/down (and the edge of the door frame access hole cutting into your wrist).  Find the clip and work out which way it's facing (find the 'open' end of the metal finger over the end of the pin.  Find the base of the clip, press it towards you and try to slide it off.

It's one of those jobs that gets easier once you've done it once or twice (unlike getting them back on - well for me anyway).

An attempt at the whole clip in cross section...
