Velocita Rosso
I read somewhere a while back , about the GT6/Spitfire 1500 ,door handle/lock mechanism having a common fault . The plastic/nylon insides of the mechanism has a loop and 2/3 inch long shaft on which a spring slides on.The common fault being that the plastic loop breaks and then the door cannot be opened from outsideAlso in the reading , some one had come up with this part being replaceable by an alternative ,stronger partHas anyone come across this ?Having to get in the GT by the tailgate is a bit awkward :-/

I used some gaffa tape! Both of my doors have been working fine since!

Rich_s
Mine had this problem when i bought it, someone had tried to force the lock and snapped the plastic, bought the replacement from canleys and all works fine, simple enough to replace as well, is it not part of the mot that all doors have to be able to be opend from the outside if a handle is fitted? or am i imagining things again, wouldnt be the first time :)rich

He gave i eventually.Fixed the plastic bit by drilling tiny foles and fixing together with fuse wire then binding with epoxy glue.
philyarde
HiI've had to strip my external handle off, i'm stumped though, how does the long clip that comes of the lock ciylinder conect to the "rod" from the catch part in the side of the door. it has a split pin through the clip, but if i push the rod into the clip, it makes the whole mechanism to tight to turn???
