Chambers
Sorry for another post so soon, I dont like to ask to many questions in one thread as they get lost.Anyway, Ive bought some replacement locks as mine dont seem to want turn with the key in. Im trying to get the exterior handle off so I can change the lock barrels Ive looked at the Haynes book and that doesnt seem to be much use and also the Autobooks book, although a bit more informative, still doesnt really help me.Can someone give me a step by step of how to take of the handle/change the locks. Also is there a special technique for locking t he doors or is it simple a regular case out get out of the car and lock the door with the key from outside? Rumpith
Not sure what model you have. On early Spits (1-3) the lock is separate to the handle and it's just a case of taking the door card off, removing a clip, and loosening off the locknut... Rumpith
Sorry, just read your other post. Don't know about 1500, but I'm guessing you need to get to the key barrel from inside the door on that too...

beefertoo
with any luck a couple of pics,2 bolts/studs from inside the door gets the whole lock off then a c-clip gets the barrel off. you may be able to get the cilp off without taking the whole lock off with a fiddle and i'm not sure about acess with the window mech in place.hope this helps craig
Chambers
Thanks for the pics mate, do you mean the nut the the spanner is on and the one next to it?
beefertoo
yep indeed, when they are off there is a shaped 'keeper plate'. on mine there is a rod going down to the latch mech with a kind of W shaped cilp. squeeze the ends to release, its easier to see it than write it :)craig
