animator
I've just fitted a new drivers door to my 13/60 convertible and can't seem to get the hood frame to fit around the window. Theres a big gap at the back edge of the glass, and I'm not sure how the top of the quarterlight is supposed to fit flush to the sealing rubber. Any tips ? Any tips ?Welcome to my world..... sedatives may be required :(. Did your previous door fit? There is in fact quite alot of adjustment which comes from altering the height and angle of the quarterlight frame. You'll also need to adjust the rear glass channel to keep it parallel with the channel in the quarterlight frame or it'll stick/fall out.Photos of your current situation would probably assist.......Nick
animator
No the previous door did not fit it was in a bad state and the glass rattled around. I suppose it will be a case of endless tinkering and a bit of cutting of the rubber seal ?

If it "never has fitted" while you have owned the car, there may also be a problem (or several more likely :() with the hood frame fit. Does the other door fit? There is a lengthy thread on the subject of hood and frame fit somewhere on this forum - but reading that might you depress you!I'd not cut seals unless really pressed - whereabouts do you mean?Nick
animator
Where the top of the quarterlight pushes against the rubber seal it keeps the rubber from touching the glass, creating a gap - unless I have the wrong type of seal?

I confess I did take a sharp stanley knife to the little bead on the seal surface and slice it back to the next surface (only about 2mm removed). Seals really need to be fatter and much squashier like modern convertible ones are, or like those on my hardtop........ Have to say that if you are expecting a draft, drip and noise proof fit you are headed for disappointment. Might just get 2 of those.....Nick
