Jonny-Jimbo
Hi all,I'm selling some doors at the moment, people are asking if they're mk1 or mk2 - how do i tell the difference as I thought the mk1 and 2 had the same doors but different front and rear ends?Much thanks from anyone who can help. GreenV8Machine
the mk1s had 3 welded nuts to hold their opening mechanisms in the shell

Richard B
They can be interchanged, same as putting a MKIII GT6 door on a MkI GT6. Also one type can be modifed to take the fitments of the other (can't remember which way round that goes though).
Alex
Mk1 fits straight on a mk2 and mk2 fits a mk1 but you have to weld on some fixings.
GreenV8Machine
Thats my 2k, mkI with mkII doors, riveted in some small pieces of tapped 5mm bar to retain the door opening mech and the door grab handle.
thescrapman
I always thought the doors were backward compatible. A mik2 door has all the fittings for installation into a Mk1, but not the other way round as a Mk2 had not been invented whenthe Mk1 cam out.Makes sense from a spares provision point of view.CheersColin
GreenV8Machine
Thats right, the mkII shell is the mkI with that rectangular hole for the different door opening mech and lower door grab handle holes in.
marc1estate
MK2 doors have the holes for MK1 handles but not the captives, I think? been so long :(
