franksm
Grrrrr..... thought I had this one sorted a long time ago. But nooooo.... bit of wet carpet this morning. Looks like the door card has bowed out a little, and brought the plastic sheet with it, which has let a bit of water in.On my other (more modern) cars there's a plastic sheet covering the whole of the inner door skin, and then the door card is fixed on top. Plastic is held in place with black mastic (awful stuff) but I have used duck-tape over the years, as the mastic goes bad.Going to do the same with the Stag - any reasons not to ? Just need to make sure the drains in the door bottom are free of dirt/waxoyl/etc. Might even drill a couple of extra drains if there are none there. ferds
There should be drain holes in the bottoms of the doors but these do get blocked. While you are there, coat the back of the door skin with waxoyl for good measure. You can buy new door cards for about £15 but you need to transfer your vinyl covering (get yourself a staple gun).Wet Carpet? Are you sure its the door? The corners of the windscreen are the favourite entry point. Failing that, rusty front arches / floor.Worst case,,, leaking heater matrix.Best of luckChris

franksm
Okay, okay, so it looks like I have been running around all this time with a seal or two missing off my A- and B- pillars !Does anyone have a good pic of the door frame on the Stag showing where the 18-inch or so section of rubber is supposed to fit ? Seems to be on the A-pillar beside the existing rubber (the one with the felt on the other side. The seal in question has a profile like: PAlso, there's a 24" or so section of the same stuff for the hard-top. Where abouts does this fit - on the B-pillar ?Thanks - I don't have another Stag closeby that I can look at other than my own, and I couldn't find any good pics anywhere of what I'm looking for.Edit: seal that I need to fit is 630755:
franksm
Again: grrrr...Fitted new door-frame seals (felt on one side, rubber on the other) and the A-post seals (P-shaped soft rubber) and this morning the floor is wet. Seems that the water is coming over the felt seal in the middle of the door. I don't think the door is sealing to the A-pillar properly - is this ths usual leak point ?I'll adjust my door gaps/positioning again, but I might have to double up on the A-pillar rubber seal

franksm
Hi JohnThere are bolts on the A-pillar that the door bolts to - these allow adjustment in all planes. There are also bolts in the door *behind* the door-trim that allow some minimal adjustment. You should be able to get some back. Plus after doing that, your door striker will also no doubt be out of kilter, so that can be adjusted in all planes too (the stricker on the B-pillar, not the lock mechanism in the door itself).Really frustrating trying to get all the various adjustments done, but there must be a knack to it.Can't wait to be in a position to install new carpeting ;-)
