Ludwig
Anyone had any experience of buying new Heritage doors? Left hand only seems to be available - are they any good regarding fit/panel line - up etc, or am I best reskinning (with door shell on car) ?Thanks once again in anticipation!Alex
heraldcoupe
I've no experience with the doors, I've been pretty unimpressed with the bonnets though. Cheers,Bill.
Ludwig
Mmmm, I've got one of their boot - lids, whilst it's a decent fit the finishing on the welds etc leaves a lot to be desired, I suspect a door or indeed a bonnet is less forgiving.TaAlex
heraldcoupe
I've never used one of the bonnets myself, but I have been able to study them with a local restorer. Alignment on one was particularly dreadful, skewed severely to one side. Cheers,Bill.
GTsixCA
Just recently re-skinned a door with a heritage panel, the fit was passable and it went on very easily, i did notice that where the weatherstrip sits there should be a flat surface, however the new panel does not have this so i will probably end up with a slight gap.As expected you will also have to drill for the door lock and handle.I can neverr understand why you can buy 1 door complete but not the other. Slimboyfat
Actually the 'Heritage' left hand door was that produced some years ago was a Taylor Pressform (better known to most as Steelcraft) effort.
Slimboyfat
Oop's didn't mean to send that, I hadn't finished. Why did they do a left hand door first? Because that's USA Spitfire drivers door, and where did most Spitfires end up?Sales were so slow that the right hand door was never pursued. When Heritage took over marketing Steelcraft product they pulled the plug on any further development.
