Scottie55
My recommendation based on having tried a new heritage door on my Spitfire and failed, is that the original door fitted with a new outer skin is your best approach. Its all about the frame or door chassis as that is what your car is built around ish!. I've just been throught the door saga and found that repairing my originals are were the right approach. You cannot guarantee that a new door or any other second hand door will fit your car and expect everything to line up.

The garage has had to amend alot of poor short cuts taken by the previous owner who did the last major resto, he hadn't braced the doors when they were taken out so all types of extra structural work is having to be sorted, but they've said it'll be like new. Sourced some good replacements and have new skins :)
cook1e
I picked up a US spec rust free door at Stoneleigh a few years back for £40. The US spec one has a bloody great bar welded inside as side impact protection so it's a bit heavier than the UK one, other than that it's the same. The skin did have the odd minor ripple in it but absolutely no rust, Before I bought it I kept getting out bid on doors on ebay some went for as much as £100..., I did win a door on ebay for £25 but it was rustier than mine! the perils of buying on ebay. I'd say don't buy one without checking it in the flesh first, especially one that's sprayed in primer as this can hide a multitude of filler! Paudman
I agree, don't buy second hand unseen by post, the standards some dealers or dismantlers have is different from ours.... patched "immaculate" spare wheel wells, holed "as new" valences... I've seen too many.
