IggyWesty
Hello Everyone. The Doors on my MK1 Vitesse dont fit very well. The gap between bonnet and door seems quite pronounced and the doors do not close properly. They don't seem to go into the catcher properly meaning that they can be pulled more than an inch out of the door frame when they are "closed". Can anyone help??Thank You
ferny
Bonnet and door gap is probably down to the bonnet. Is it the same both sides? What's the gap under the windscreen like? And it sounds like the door catches are either not done up properly so they move around or the catch is badly adjusted on the b-post. That's easy to do and check with a screwdriver. Steve Cureton
Doors can be very hard to adjust as there are so many variables. I would start by getting the doors aligned to the frame and latching properly, then adjust the bonnet to suit. I recently had a problem getting my doors to latch, see the following thread -[Sorry, link no longer available]

61 Coupe
The general rule in lining up car panels is work from the back forward - so lift the bonnet and get your doors sorted out first = nice gaps and safely locking etc. Then work on the bonnet. It won't be easy work but you'll get there. If the gaps are really bad then steel beading can be welded to the edges of the panels (repaint needed etc) or the edge can be ground back and fettled (again = repaint).
