npanne
Do they really go for this much:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=300319361114?
Gt6s
I would sell the one I have for only £249.
TR7th Heaven
That price does seem expensive.Rimmers list the rear panel for £163.70 inc. VAT but that's for the Spitfire MKIV/1500, not the GT6. You have to be careful with eBay in my experience.I've overpaid for parts on occasions that would have been cheaper at Canley Classics or even Rimmers.I've also had a few bargains though.Rich ;)

Richard B
Well the GT6 MkIII panel is rare & unique. Whether it's worth that much :-/As always the buyer sets the price, not the seller. :X
Slimboyfat
GT6 rear light panel is part number 815395, price £132 inc VAT, twelve in stock. Where did this rumour start that it was a rare panel? Rimmers should have availability, and stock under that part number as well (ask me how I know!).
Slimboyfat
and the seller states that Stoneleigh is in Leicester, he just lost all credibility!
npanne
My understanding (from the Rimmers website) was that they had the rear panel minus the mounting bracket for the tailgate lock (although, presumably you can just move this across from your existing panel if you are changing - I don't imagine that this bit rusts).Maybe the repro ones are really poor fit (does anyone know?). thescrapman
Well he will make a good profit as it cost him £95 20 years ago.Daves £132 is about the same price allowing for inflation, or maybe even a bit cheaper.CheersColin

No issues with fit, and indistinguishable from original once fitted. It's easy to monitor quality when panels are being pressed out not 100 yards from where one is sitting. Deleted User
In July 2003, Practical Classics had a buyers guide for the GT6 and said that the panel was unavailable - maybe they started the rumour or maybe they were quoting one of the experts that they researched the article with.BTW, I just happened to be re-reading the article last night - I didn't memorise it - honest! John Kipping instigated re-manufacture of that particular panel sometime in the 90's, I can't remember exactly when, I'll ask him next time we speak. It's certainly in my 1997 copy of JK's old catalogue here in front of me (£82!). The same company that pressed them then, presses them today. 'Expert' 'Ex' as in former? Billy Boy Bailey
Rimmers list a whole second hand panel for £35 http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/bargains/images/pm10036f.jpgI needed one for my GT6 but decided to buy a whole rusty car for £300 and cut out the rear panel and spot welded it in to my good GT6.
