CVB8 Each side of the car is fused separately for sidelights. The fuses have a switched supply through the main light switch.Power is obviously getting to it if your headlights are operating.  You need to check supply from the light switch to the fuses. If Mk 1 you have two cables to check, a red and a red green.  Mk2 has one red cable which is looped across the two fuses. One fuse is labelled Parking lights,(drivers side) the other Side and Tail.

Skooby - Did you resolve your problem?
