WIMPUS
Hello, I bought recently some H4 headlights for my spit, but i've heard you best put some relais in between..now my question is .. you have low beam and hi beam .. do you need to put a relais in between hi and low ?, or just between low ? Because lowbeam is operated by the switch on the dash .. Can anyone help ? Kind regards Wim
Richard B
You want two relays, one for low beam and one for full beam.

piman
Hello James, "Put the relays as close to the headlights as possible and put the fuse as close to the battery as possible."That's not ideal because in the event of a fault at one lamp, it could take all of them out, I prefer to fuse each filament seperately, which means down by the relay. By all means have a fuse in the supply as long as it is adequately sized, i.e there is discrimination of protection.Alec
James
Hi Alec,I was referring to the feed rather than the individual feeds to the lights.James
piman
Hello James, yes I know and many installations just have that one fuse, as I said it's not ideal. Alec

James
Alec is suggesting that both bulbs have a fuse of their own.
Dannyb
I have completed the relay wiring for the head lights and it has made a difference.I'm now going to fit a set of Osram Nightbreakers and would like to cut a hole in the bowl so I don't have to take all the lights out from the front, and to make future bulb changes easy.Where is the best place to make the hole and how big. At the very back of the bowl or at the side. Does anyone have a picture of one converted this way.

Dannyb
I don't need wiring instructions as I already done it. It's the cutting the back of the headlight bowl I need advise on. I could go ahead with a tank cutter but don't want to find out there is a better way after I've buggered it up.
