Alex
I need a pair of headlights for my spitfire and thought I'd ask what people recommend.Having looked about there appears to some cheapie s and some not very cheap. So are they all equal? What differences are there other than the pilot lights? My old ones have flat lenses but one was smashed on the Rbrr last year.I 'm starting to think maybe I should get it back on the road now as its barely turned a wheel since :B
thehanko
Sealed beam and halogen will be the biggest difference, but then as always there will be quality and crud.So many of the cheap halogens ive seen end up with rusty lenses. The new lights bowls and everything for my gt6 simply didnt fit in the space allowed, I had to trim a number of flanges to make them work as many of the parts now available are copies which are close to the same but not identical.personally I would go halogen as the light it so much better to drive by. Alex
Oops I should have said, its halogens I currently have.Have to agree about crusty reflectors too, this is my second set of halogens as the first set that were fitted before the rebuild were so rotten.I seem to remember being told to buy a particular light brand as the light spread was better? andy thompson
Narva are excellent - not sure they are available in the UK - top quality - great high beam spread. The 5 3/4 version H4 main beam are effectively OE on old BMW 3 series http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/headlamp-inserts7" would be same as Jeep Wrangler

Sheepy
Go for the crystal headlights, same size and fitting as originals, but alot brighterThe ones I fitted to my mates defender were plastic, so no more rust! ;)
Alex
I've seen these crystal ones.....my only worry. Is they look a little cheap?
ferny
I bought cheapo lights with pilot lights for the Herald and Moggy years ago from SVC at a show. The Moggy is now gone but it lived outside the whole time and so has the Herald for the last (7?) few years. No rusting, on the lights at least. http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/
Clive
I have a pair of the crystal ones. They were on the spitfire, and will be fitted to the new one. I was very happy with them, good and bright.Would recommend using extra bright (but standard power) bulbs. Philips came out the best in a test...and good value off fleabay.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-CRYSTAL-GLASS-Halogen-Headlights-Defender-Td5-Tdi-XS-/390439470097?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ae8018411http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PHILIPS-X-TREME-VISION-H4-UPGRADE-HEADLIGHT-BULBS-/360506662717?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53efdf1f3d
