Rychu
I have not researched this in any way and this may be a really stupid question (I'm sure it wont be my last :-/) but why does the flexible brake hose not connect directly to the rear brake cylinder on the 1500 as it does on the MkIII?Is it possible if fitting new hoses to do this?Richard
Clive
I think it is to do with the change in rear spring.Check it the early mkIV spit has teh copper connecting to the cylinder, as that had teh same shaft length as the mk3 but the same spring as later cars fitted with teh longer shafts.Usually best to keep this stuff as std, makes for a simpler life, even though it may not seem that way at the time. I have more than one T shirt.
Rychu
Thanks Clive.Yes I will be keeping it original as I would worry that it would be unsafe, not knowing enough about this.Richard
Pete Lewis
its because the larger floating eye on the end of the swing spring leaf will chop through the hose ,or pipe it must take a pretty acute bend immediately it leaves the cylinder. if you fit a swinger kit to a std set up there is included the back plate bkt and the additional pipe. guess how we found that out !!!
