Steve AKA vitessesteve
Galileo estimated 1974 as after that date local government was reorganized and various English counties names stop being used. So you info is another clue in dating the document.

Steve AKA vitessesteve
I have just published a blog post about County Motors in Carlisle using the image supplied by Derek from the TR Register. http://vitessesteve.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/county-motors-of-carlisle-triumph-car.htmlCounty Garage Ltd was selling Ford, Standard, Triumph and Ferguson before the second world war. After WW2 Ford was taken to court by Ferguson who accused them of stealing his patented 3 point linkage tractor invention. Ferguson won his legal action and decided not to share it with Ford. After this date there were to be no dealerships with both Ford and the Ferguson connected Standard Triumph cars.County Motors came into being in 1948 selling Standard, Triumph and Alvis cars as well as Ferguson tractors. The car retailer hit its peak in the 1970s, when its showrooms in Rosehill and Botchergate sported offerings from brands such as Jaguar, Daimler, Triumph, Rover and Land Rover. In more recent times it also acted as distributor for Fiat, Daihatsu and Alfa Romeo. Since 2009, however, County Motors dealt only in selling and repairing used cars.At its peak the business employed over 140 people at several sites. 24 July 2013 saw the appointment of an administrator to the business. With the closure of the showroom at Kingstown Broadway eight employees working at the dealership, among them owner Barry Tweddle lost their jobs and the business was closed down,In both the 1965 and 1968/69 Triumph Service Directory County Motors (Carlisle) Ltd of 14 Botchergate were listed as a distributor with Carlisle Motor Co on Fishergate listed as a dealer. In 1974 only County Motors are still listed as distributor. -------------------------I wonder how many other garages were affected by the spat between Ford and Ferguson. It would nice to have some more images about County Motors, pictures of the garage or forecourt would be good. Steve AKA vitessesteve
I have just published a blog post about C Allen and Son (Bristol) Ltd in Bristol. http://vitessesteve.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/c-allen-and-son-bristol-ltd-triumph-car.htmlI have found about the history of the firm but could really do with some more Triumph related material. However I was sent these pictures of an unusual Triumph document which feature the C Allen dealer stamp.

Steve AKA vitessesteve
Moores of Brighton feature in my latest blog post about Triumph car dealers. http://vitessesteve.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/moores-of-brighton-limited-triumph-car.htmlIf you have any more information about Moores or any other Triumph garage, photos of window stickers or sill plates etc please let me know.-------------------------Moores of Brighton (1924) Limited ran as s Triumph car distributor for many years. From at least 1955 until 1974 they had premises at Russel Square. I believe the Russell Square building was demolished and that a multistorey car park was built on the site.Over the years the business held several franchases as can be seen in both the adverts on this page. Prestige brands including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jensen, Jaguar and Daimler cars were sold from a showroom at 39 Old Steine. The business was bought by Dutton Forshaw in 1961 but went on trading under the Moores name until sometime after 1968.----------------------
Clive
Glad you posted that Steve. I had a herald (very rough, bought as a donor car as it had loads of new stuff, all got used when I build my vitesse)Anyway, that was a Moores supplied car, and had a Moores treadplate. I have had a look, but it must have gone as it is nowhere to be found (23 years ago)I remember moores got bought out by Dutton Forshaw at some point, they dealt with luxury motors and had a showroom in Western Road, Brighton, the main shopping street in Brighton. That would be the early 70's

Mark Hammond
Hi Steve,Just to indulge your "weird perversion" with old ex-Triumph Dealers, there a 1970 one owner 13/60 convertible on eBay currently, it shows a rear window sticker that looks suspiciously like Caffyns (well known and long established dealer group who still exist). Here is the link:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1970.....9:g:FPAAAOSwdzVXnzjGMark

Mark Hammond
Quoted from vitessesteve Good spot Mark - pretty unusual to see anything convertible tops Especially 46 year old ones! Most people took 'em off when they got the car home. On my Herald that is what my grandfather did once we got home from the dealership. He kept the tax disc holder though and I was still using it up until tax discs finished.M.
