THe Maestro Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I removed my GT6 Mk3 door handles for painting and have put them back on, but now pulling on the handles does not release the catch so I have to stick my arm through the window and open from the inside. Does anyone have any advice on adjustment? The only thing I canb see to alter is the long screw that protrudes out from the white bit of plastic behind the handle (don't know what its called). I think the longer the length of screw that sticks out the more leverage it has to pull on the catch but these are on their longest possible length.Dave
esxefi Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 there is a rubbish plastic piece in the lock mechanism which is like a triangle shape with a long 'stick' type bit which has a spring over it.when you lock or unlock the door with the key it allows a cam to move in or out thus enabling door to be opened.through age it becomes brittle and snaps leaving you unable to open the door from outside.AFAIK there are no spare 'parts' you just have to rob one from another handle, there was a thread somewhere about this a while ago if not here then at tssc site.i did suggest maybe getting them remanufactured may be in alli or even plastic again which would help to not have to cannabalise more handles.if this piece looks ok then could be the linkage between the external lock where you put the key and handle mech inside the door.it is a piece of sprung steel which has a split pin through it and is held to it by friction which sometimes slips meaning you cant unlock the door from outside.hope it gives you a pointer or two.
