Hi Bob,
I struggled with mine for ages, then I bought the tool that is available, this made the job real easy and was done in minutes.
Basically it is a strip of steel with a thin hook on one end and a circular handle on t'other.
I wound the glass fully down and went carefully, once you have the knack it is easy.
Tool is available from usual suppliers and on ebay. About a tenner IIRC.
Regards, Steve.

still work in progress but i think the method is(1) glass out  (2) rubber outer seal on, the space will let the seal turn through 90 deg to fit (3) glass back in  (4) inside rubbing strip on . this is plan (C) wish me luck.

When doing my Herald I droped dthe door glass out of the winder mechanism so it sat as low as possible within the door. I then fitted the clips to the rubber. only about half way on, before attaching them to the door. As others have said, it might help to leave the furlex ones until last to give as much room as possible. I also found the proper tool made the job very much easier.

For fitting the outer weather seal clips if you don't have the proper tool, one of those metal strips that you use for blocking up unused expansion port holes on desktop/tower PCs with the end bit bend around to make a small hook works really well.  I did mine this way without dismantling anything apart from removing the bottom of the door card.  Its a bit fiddly and I dropped the clips inside the door several times and had to retrieve them, so had to have the door card loose.
