JRidout Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Dear All,Purchased a couple of door skins for my Mark 1 today, stripped old door skin off, blasted the frames and primed them. Now when I offered up the new skins I notice that they hav'nt just slotted in over the frames, they are slighly less bent then the old skins? So do I start at the top and then clamp down to the bottom bending as | go , or should I start at the bottom and work the other way?regardsJR
JensH Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Start at the top. And take 4-5-6-7 turns with a dolly and a hammer 8)
Scottie55 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Correct to start from the top. Remember to make sure the top gap for the glass is correct and even. Really important you check this. As you fold the edges over, the skin will pull into the chassis shape.
JRidout Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Ok what is the correct gap between the skin and frame?? without seals etc.. Anyone check for me?CheersJR
JensH Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Free from memory - aprox 21-22 mm - but will have to confirm 8)
JRidout Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Cheers, a lot of fettling will be going on I fear!!JR
