Door: fix or replace?

Hi All

My door looks like this. Should I replace the entire door or try to fix this?

Part catalogues mention doors and door skins.. dumb question maybe but what's the difference? The interior bits (panel, winder etc.) are fine so i'd keep mine.

A door skin from Canley is around 60 and a used door from Quiller start at 75. A re-spray is on the to do list in any case.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Seve, no need to replace the door based on the pic you've shown. Thats a relatively easy repair for a capable welder. Quite simply, the damaged corner of the outer skin gets removed, the chassis frame underneath checked and repared as necessary, then a repair piece of made up metal can be welded in to finish the skin off. A bit of filler and paint and job done. You should check that the rest of the door is all good around the full flange periphery, only if that is looking dodgy would I suggest you replace the whole door.

I agree with Roy. Get new metal shaped and butt-welded in assuming mating metal is good. Perhaps a new or good used door skin would be back-up option.

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

good news too if it doesn't need to be replaced. I'll take off the inner panel and see what the door looks like from inside.
