BodsMk1 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Am i right in thinking that i have to cut a bit out of the outer door rubber scraper when it butts up to the 1/4 light. Also what order sould i fit the door components ie scrapers, glass, channels etc .I am thinking of putting my doors back together tommorow (Day off work at last) and am thinking it through tonight, it will probably keep me awake worrying about it so any advise will be welcome. thankyou all.
RedRooster Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 You do have to trim a bit off the rubbers for the 1/4 glass. Put a bit of masking tape along the door to window slot to protect the paint, i found it easier to refit all the bits with the door laid flat rather than still on the car.
GT6 M Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Put the rubbers on first, as they ar a real pain in the butt to get onyou will need to push upwards with a Blunt Thingy, and at the same time , Press down on the rubber to get it on okif you dont do it this way, then pressing the rubber doon, wil push the clips of the door ledge.
bob dunn Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 i made a hook to pull up the clip as i pushed down on the rubber. i fitted the furry one first with the glass in then the outer . not sure if i did it the easy way but it is a bad job any way i think , look at the marks of the old clips for position .
RedRooster Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I seem to remember the rubbers have indents for the clips which you need to align other wise the clips will rub on the glass.
greenbonnie Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 hi i bought the special tool from moss. locate the clips in the tool. i did drop a few clips in the door. but once got the hang of it. found the job quite easy. pete
