nang Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 The drivers door lock on my Mk4 sometimes will not open from the outside when I pull the handle, if I lift the handle slightly then pull it will open. Taken the trim panel off and going to take the outer handle off to have a look to see if I can see the problem. How do I get it off please :(
Dannyb Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 First this is to remove window winder. This is held in by a pin betweem handle and the round plastic bit. Then the inner door handle which is screwed on. You should then be able to pull the door cards off. Then you will be able to see how the inner and outer handles connect with rods to the lock.
shadowbane Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Mine did that a few times.....turned out in my case just to be the whole handle loose.... there is the fine line between being tight enough and bending the door skin with being to tight :-/ Something to check :)
GT6 M Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 when you get the cards off, lookm at the drop likage that has a bigg split pin looking thing going thru a elongated C bit, this is more than likely the culprit, move the thing down, ie split pin doon, C bit up,failing that, may just be wear, that needs taken up with the adjusting screw.Or the little plastic slide, is actually riding up over the push bar, sounds funny, but you will soon see when ye git in to it, and start moving it about,Marcus
nang Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Marcus, thanks, think you're right about the split pin thingy. Have taken the outside assy off, cleaned and re greased it, now I have to get the clip back over the split pin.Cunning swines these lock people ;D
