Hi!

My uncle just bought a light blue TR7 FHC in the Netherlands (you will like this Beans !)
It seemed a very nice car , no rust , got a good dinitrol/tectyl treatment.
But needs a respray.

Now the one thing was that the drivers door was hanging a bit, and there was movement..
What can this be ? Worn hinge pin ?  :)


And where can we find a cheap carpet set ? (The owner made something himself, but not nice :/ )

I was wrong, it's a DHC (i'm new to this tr7 stuff  :B )

If you're lucky it is the pin that is worn. This can be swapped fairly easy.
Bear in mind that they are welded in, with a little welding blob on the head.

Other option is worn outer hinges (the part with the studs for mounting the doors)
Also fairly easy to changes ones the pin is out.

But when the hinges themselves are worn (arrowed) you'll have some grinding and welding to do,
as these are welded to the body. And it's a double weld they used!

We had seen that they where welded on, my uncle was also saying it was hopefully the pin that was worn or the hinge on the door side ..
Otherwise he was thinking if maybe to drill it to a bigger size if that was possible and put in a bigger pin  :)

But first things first is getting the TR7 to his new home, maybe next week going after it  :P
Sadly i can't drive it to here, because i only may drive in belgium with my provisional license  :B

Yeah a V8  ::)  ;D
Well i will be on this section a few times i guess to ask some stuff when we are doing something..
But at first sight there isn't much to do ! But you never know   :)

Difficult to judge the car from that picture, some more info/pictures on the car available?
As for the need for a V8, NO as that is far to obvious  :P

Don't have any pictures for now, the car is still in the netherlands..
Maybe next weekend going after it  ;)

Here you can see the number plate  :P
And it is bought in Etten-Leur

As for the interior, the wood things can come off easy (only stuck on with double sided tape) & needs new black carpets  ;)
And the seats will be staying !

Shame about the boot rack and (rather high positioned) seats :-/
For comparison, original seats ...



Judging by its licence-plate that car's from around November 1980,
so about 5 to 6 months younger than my DHC.

The original seats are with the car, but need new foam (and maybe new covers).
As for the boot rack .. my uncle doesn't like it also ..
Will see what he's going to do with it  ;)

And do you know where i can find a carpet set ? (not one to expensive, because some sellers there price  ??) )

Is the original carpet worn or just faded?
If it is only faded it should be possible to rejuvenate it with special dye.
If it is worn I might be able to supply you with a better (but faded tan) set.

And the prices are not that steep for a full set of new carpets.
Unless you are very thrifty of course, but you are not Dutch are you   :P

The guy have re-done the carpets himself, but not so nice (you can't see it in the pictures)..
And it's my uncle that doesn't want to pay much for a carpet set !  :P

Just been to my uncle's place and he told me he is going to get it on friday together with his friend (that has a van ) :p
He seems a bit scared of how it's going to drive and that he makes it home  :P

So will see friday ! :p

This afternoon i was getting a spare part for my friend car and what was coming my way ... my uncle with the TR7 !  ;D
So when i got the part, not stopped home, but straight to my uncle :p
When i got there the TR7 was parked with a flat tyre  :-/
My uncle was telling me the tyre's where very old and not that round anymore and that the weights of the wheel had some loose (he had seen them flying off  :P )

One of the wiper arms is hitting the bonnet , so going to look at that.
Tomorrow he's getting the car in the back where the old saw installation is and there he's got the room to do it all.

And tomorrow afternoon I and my friend (with his british car) is going to my uncle also to have a look!

The new softtop was very good he said, no water in the car, just wind noise and the idle wasn't good  :)
