garyf Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 The 'P' Seals run to just above the Door Light switch?They are tucked behind the door seal on the windsscreen surround and drop to above the Light switch glued in place.I don't think the earlier Heralds had them fitted but the 13/60's and later Vitesse's certainly did.RegardsGary Quote
heraldcoupe Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 They were introduced around the beginning of 1960 as an almost flat strip, the P-profile came in a couple of years later. A lot of even late Convertibles never had them, while others did - I've never got to the bottom of why this was the case.They tuck in close against the flange for the main seal at the top, until they reach the wider part of the A-post. Here they splay outwards away from the flange, wi the end is outboard of the courtesy light switch. This is presumably to channel any water away from the switch,Cheers,Bill. Quote
Stodders Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Thanks guys for the concise replies. This now makes perfect sense. Strange you say that some cars did not have them. I purchased mine in 1979 as a nice low mileage example and it certainly did not have them. I can see that they would serve several purposes: stopping wind noise and leaks around the quarter lights, stopping the quarter light frames from catching the A pillars when the body shakes over poor road surfaces and keeping this gap constant and also protecting the door switches.Thanks againMike Quote
