ResinRocket Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Hello, I have a pair of doors from a Triumph Herald that I'm restoring. I need to remove the Herald glass that's in there so that I can swap it with glass from my Equipe GT4S.I did a search incase this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything. The trouble is, I can't work out how to get the glass out! My Autobooks manual says that the regulator arms are attached to the window channel with nuts and bolts, but on my doors they seem to be riveted in place. Whatever is there looks "factory" in any case.Do I need to drill out the two rivets? Or is there something on the other side of these rivets like a circlip that I can't feel?I'm not sure what year Herald the doors are off (if it makes a difference), I think it's a 13/60, possibly a late-ish one (I didn't really investigate and the scrapyard had removed the plates)Any advice would be great!*EDIT* I found this thread about removing the glass on a GT6. I wonder if it's the same as a Herald / Vitesse?http://www.club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/forum10/Blah.pl?m-1181246760/
Steve Cureton Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 The glass runner is held in the regulator with large spring clips, a bit like circlips. You have to get your fingers behind and push the clip to one side (it wil only go one way) which will then allow it to be removed. You will probably need a short screwdriver to move the clip. Once it's off it will all become clear but not easy the first time you do it.
ResinRocket Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 Thanks Steve, after a cup of coffee I went out there and had another crack at it - glass is now out! I can imagine getting the clips back in will be fun.
