Can anyone tell me the best finish for them i.e. Varnish or Lacquer?
Ps If you remember I put a couple posts on a few months ago (engine problems, Rarebits engine)
Well the engine is now rebuilt and back in the car. I am going start it up on Friday fingers crossed.

The product you want is called something like "Rustin's Plastic Coating" - if done properly it comes out looking factory. I have not used it myself but have seen the results.

That's the stuff, I'm using it now, and it is excelent stuff.  I am building a stereo and oil pressure gauge mount, and I have veneered a piece of plywood to exactly match the dashboard (offcut of the very same veneer I used to renew the dash...) and then use the rustin's over the top.

It polishes up well, and is good to use.  1 part hardener to 4 parts laquer, stays workable in the jar for 2-3 days.
