Fitting door weather strips

As a mere mortal with two hands and ten fingers, some of which are not what they were I will admit, I would be most grateful for any tips on fitting the inner and outer door/window seals. After an hour of dropping the clips into the bottom of the door I decided on a tactical withdrawal before something got damaged. Whats the secret?

bent u shaped piece of metal, to put clips in and pull up against seal
