Hi all

Just getting the bits and bobs ready for when my car gets the front end paint hopefully this month and I was wondering the best place to get new steel front quarters from?

Looked around and James Paddock seems to be the best price but are these panels any good?

Did a search on here and someone had heard(!) that the steel front quarters don't fit well

Don't want fibreglass ones.

Any recommendations?

They come up on eBay from time to time at fairly reasonable prices. You will always pay for steel ones though.  I picked up a pair of decent fiberglass valances which look just as good on eBay for 99p and fiver postage.  Any particular reason you are after steel? They do rust relatively quickly in the position they sit.

Hi, thanks for the reply - after steel as (again, I have been told) that fibreglass ones do not fit well?

@ Brendan - good to hear the paddock ones are ok.

I have one of each on mine and they look the same, steel one rotting away badly now though so replacement fibreglass one waiting to be painted and fitted.

For me, the fibreglass ones look as good as the steel. It's just the prep thats required is slightly higher to make them look steel when painted. Ive tested the fitment of mine and they're spot on really!
Again, your decision but the price played a large part in the choice aswell as them not rotting.. one less thing to worry about.

Iain, I emailed you back by the way!

I use my car all the year round, and I've found that by running waxoyl INSIDE the quarter valance (between the skins) when new and then painting it regularly over the engine side face, they can last 10 years or more. I've never like the look of fibreglass ones. First thing I ditched.

My old metal one where filled up/repaired with fiber glass, 1 of them only the edge was still sort of metal and all the rest fibre glass  :-/.
I've bought new ones from rimmers at the time (didn't hear then from paddocks or canley's  :B ) .
Sprayed them with tectyl until it was running out of ever corner !
And sprayed them with stone chip paint on the inside (engine side).

Time will tell how they are going to be  ::)
