ferny Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 A part of my offside valance is very rusty and it also bangs against my airbox. What would happen if I removed it? Obviously supporting the radiator in some way. What purpose does it serve? Just to stop crap from spraying on your engine? Would engine cooling be affected in any way?Seeing as it's rusty by the chassis I might cut it up to reduce the size that way I keep the radiator mounting.
heraldcoupe Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 The very early Heralds had no side valances, they had rubber curtains hanging from the wheelarches instead. Without either the engine can get in a bit of a state. I have seen odd cooling issues with some Spitfires which lacked valances (which may have been completely unrelated to the absence of valances!)Cheers,Bill.
herald948 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 And then there's the problem of making up a proper bracket to support the hydraulic line and hose for the front brake...unless you've already got "factory" disc brakes or PROPERLY converted to same with the little bracket that bolts onto the suspension turret to support the hydraulic line. ;) See item # 10 athttp://www.canleyclassics.com/catalogue.asp?id=vitessemk2_brakepipes&scale=large
ferny Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 It's a 13/60 so has discs as standard. :)I'll give it a go. If it needs replacing anyway I've got nothing to lose.
