jjferreira Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Afternoon all, I'm having a new Walnut dashboard done for my spitfire, and I wanted to buy a whole new set of Chrome Dials, can any one suggest where I can buy them, or can i just buy the chrome rims for them. Also when replacing the dials most of them seems to be easy, my concern is with the Gas one, is it easy to do that one?Cheersp.s. the missues is not happy about the amount of dash I'm spending on this hobby :)
DaveKent Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 your dials should have a chrome bezel anyway. use a wooden scraper or a plastic one to scrape the black paint off to reveal the chrome. do not use anything metal, or paint stripper etc as the chrome damages easiy and the dial glass is often plastic!
Velocita Rosso Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Better off using a chrome cleaner paste, rub like hell and the black comes of and reveals well protected chrome
DaveKent Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 that is true, but i find it damages the plastic of the "glass". it is the way to do it if you've got glass "glass" !
Gt6s Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Celulose thinners takes the black off very easily and cleans the glass.
Velocita Rosso Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 However the chrome bezel has tabs on the back and you twist the bezel to the `outlets` and the bezel comes off
DaveKent Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 if the rubber hasn't perished and gone all gooey!!
