BodsMk1 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Im still fighting to find an alternative to the clips for securing them to the body, however i have decided lifes too short to fanny about so ive decided to use the clips. Has anybody bought any of the correct clips for a Mk1 from a supplier that worked correctly. The MK1 clips have a different part number to the mk2 and 3 ive tried the mk1 clips from paddocks but they dont seem to fit, i was thinking of trying the mk2 clips ,the ones that came out all be it very rusty looked like the mk2 ones not the mk1. Any body got any pearls of wisdom on this matter because its doing my head in. cheers all
Velocita Rosso Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 We did an alternative with the Spitfire and GTDrilling 1mm holes in the trims, one at the front and rear inner of front wing trims and the same on the rearThen drilled the wing pressingsThen packed the trims with light grease then used 8 fine screws to affix the trims to wingsDont rattle, dont chip paint and wont rust
Dannyb Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I used clear silicone. in the crome trims and stuck them on. Held in place with masking tape until it went off. No rust or water can get in and they have been on nearly 10 years.
junkuser Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I used some "U" shaped plastic extrusion from the top of the steel sheet around a plastic lined swimming pool.4 or 5 pieces about 3" long.Fitted these 30 odd years ago and the trims have been of several times since, the last time about 6/12 ago and they are still OK.Placing a piece of wood on the guard to lever the trim off with a screwdriver makes removal easy.Just a possibility.
