Does anyone have any experience of these re pro A Post Chrome Caps for the Herald/Vitesse Convertible's as I have lost my originals during the restoration (looked everywhere) even in places I know they would not be (very annoying).

I don't mind paying £16.00 for two replacements but what is the quality like?.

For all they really are - shiny tin - I'd guess repro ones will do the job; they don't take much hurt in everyday use. Originals come up on eBay but often in battered or poor condition.

I fitted them to mine and they look nice. The holes were already there on my car so I thought I'd add them. They don't come with holes pre drilled, so the best thing to do is drill a bigger than needed hole to give you some room to move it about if you need to adjust it's position or anything.

Woukd have been nice if Triumph had ever gotten round to making a proper finishing strip for the entire screen top instead  of leaving it half finished.

They did, only fitted to factory Convertibles though, not Saloon bulkheads,

Cheers,
Bill.

Was that an optional extra Bill as my 13/60 only has (well did have before I mislaid them) the A post caps and it is a Factory Convertible also I had a 1971 MK 2 Vitesse Convertible in the seventies again a genuine Factory car and that did not have anything other than the chrome A post caps.

The seam along the top of the windscreen frame on Convertibles was finished by a simple inverted 'U' channel, tack welded at a couple of points and formed to a slope at either end. It's painted body colour and is easily overlooked.
The red bulkhead in the picture lacks this and has an exposed seam, identifying it as a Saloon/Coupe/Estate/Van bulkhead.

Cheers,
Bill.

This was how the bulkhead was when I bought the car, I had seen a lot of other Heralds with the same sort of set up so I thought it was right. I think a nice chrome finisher would look nice like fitted to Jaguars etc.  8)
