JamieY Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 What is the quikest way to check if i have a positive or negative earthed system??
Clive Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Which battery terminal is connected to the car body? negative=negative earth.I think you have a 13/60?? just a guess? if so it should be neg earth.
Davemate Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Look at the battery !What car ?What year is the car ?Has it got a dynamo or an alternator ?Once you have answered some or all the above,I am sure someone will be able to help you !!!If you don't have a battery fitted, but you have an alternator then its NEG earthIf you have a dynamo then it could be either, but a bit more info is needed
ARH Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 If you have no battery fitted, the battery terminals are different sizes assuming you have round terminals. not sure which is bigger right now.
G8HSV Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I use the Type 38 battery....both terminals are same size?
junkuser Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 IF a radio is fitted and IF it has the polarity marked upon it, this is a reliable guide to the polarity of the car.Coils are marked with polarity but there is no guarantee that they have been wired in correctly as they will work the wrong way around.Car radios don't.
