question about earthing

hey guys jsut noticed sumthing about my car my herald has a positive earth and my m8s vitesse is a negative would 1 of his temp guages work in my car????

Nope, although it might do if you reversed the connections on the back, but I couldn't swear to it!

Yes go ahead.

You can change the polarity of your car without effecting anything with the exception of radio's / stereo's.

The other factor is whether both gauges match in terms of their being "stabilised" or not.

....and of course DO NOT believe either of the old wive's tales, that firstly the heater motor will suck and not blow, and secondly that the wipers will run backwards unless you change the wires round at the wiper motor.
Did that a long long time ago, and fried the loom.
Bought a new loom and fitted it using the old one as reference.
Thankfully the second loom was saveable....
16 years ago and I still cringe with embarrassment when I remember it.....
