DavidSWP
Hi all,I'm trying to get the section of the dashboard off above the steering wheel to get at the hazard switch. My question is can you remove the square shaped plastic knobs from the choke and wiper controls to allow the dashboard to be free? If not I guess you have to remove the choke cable from the back and all the wiring and pipes(?!?) from the back of the wiper control? I can't see how to do this immediately though.I've removed the speedo, rev counter clamps and cables, vent clamps and the trim from the bottom so far and I think its almost free, just the wiper control unit in the way mainly. Any help very much appreciated :)Dave
worcester19
There should be a hole on the underside of the knob that you can push a small allen key into. When you push the clip inside the hole that should release the knob. You will still need to unscrew the chome bezel but these should only be finger tight.Hope this helpsStephen

I did look for a hole thinking that there might be a grub screw like on the vent knobs but I didn't see anything
rotoflex
The wiper knob on my GT6 Mk3 definitely has the little hole to push in order to remove the knob. The choke knob is attached to the siamese cable, and I don't remember if it has the little hole in the knob. DavidSWP
Thanks I got the wiper knob off. I had to put a small shaft of metal in the hole and press it in with plyers. It took a lot of pressure to get it off for some reason. There is no hole on the choke - anyone know how to release the cable from the rear? DavidSWP
Thanks, I got them both released now. Still not enough room to get to the back of the hazard switch properly. I'm wondering if I can drop the steering wheel down somehow.
rotoflex
Are you trying to get that piece of the wooden dash above the steering wheel off?The wooden dash has two threaded studs attached to the back of it. They pass through the metal dash behind, and nuts are screwed onto them from behind the dash.On the left hand drive GT6 Mk3, the nut in the far corner (next to the door) is easy to overlook. I removed the clamp holding up the top of the shaft from the steering wheel with the torx type 'star' bolts. It let me get to the back of the dash a little better without removing all the wiring from the speedo and rev counter etc. No studs on mine! Well at least if there are they were not fastened. It's obviously been off before because there are little stickers on the wires telling what each wire is for. Now I'm very confused about the hazard wiring, going to start other thread :) Thanks all.
