danielkerr
Hi Alli wonder if anyone can point me in thr right directioni have recently rebuilt my strombergs with the usual rebuild kit.now she wont run without some element of choke :(with just a touch of chole she runs pretty well and smoothly but the second i close the choke fully she dies instantly, like the fuel has been cut completelythe initial set up is: jets @ 2.5ml below the bridge, needle flush with the damper, slow idle screws 2 turns..has anyone got any pointers - because fiddling with the usual variables has no effect..thanks in anticipation... Pete Lewis
are yoou sure you have the lugs (2) on the diaphagm located correctly in the centre ring and outer diameter so the holes in the bottom of the piston face the engine have you tried taking the jet down to richen it more the staic setting is only a guide to make her start. enough to get hot and then fine adjust, if you have lifting pins just gently touch and lift piston 2mm what hapens ??Peter
danielkerr
thanks Pete, i'll give that a go..pistons are definitely the right way round. are you thinking theres no fuel getting in?its a fixed jet, how far should i be prepared to drop them? rotoflex
If you have the Stromberg carburetors with fixed jets, you need the special tool to adjust the mixture:
danielkerr
Thanks Bill - I've got one of those - and lifting the needle has no real effect - she just wont run without chokewith just a nads of choke she runs well smooth and not particularly rich...it just seems odd that it just dies, like the fuel has been has been cut
GT6 M
has anyone got any pointers - because fiddling with the usual variables has no effect..when you say this, I take it that you have got the throttles just open enough each ,at throttle closed,as you say it works when choke is pulled out,Does choke pulled out no open the throttle plates!!!!how else would the engine get air,if the throttles are shut.
